OUR IMPACT

Our programs are aligned with the education system because education changes lives. But we know that children and young people can face barriers beyond their control that impact their attendance and participation at school. So our programs aim to remove barriers to young peoples' freedom of self-determination, such as wellbeing, safety, belonging, education, employment and food.

We have also designed our programs in line with a Community Development models of service, so that community members are supported and activated to respond to their own communities’ needs.

Our programs are designed to be holistic, and support First Nations children and young people and their families:

  • in the home

  • in the neighbourhood and school environment

  • by navigating systems and services.

We also work in partnership with other service providers.

“Before joining Murrup, I didn’t have any of my IDs and I was unemployed and having troubles getting my resume done. But Murrup has helped with it all. I’m very happy with what Murrup has helped me achieve and happy I’m in the workforce. They helped me in every possible way they can, in helping me get an ID, resume and work.

‘Murrup encourages parents to be part of their children’s education and engages education in two worlds – the Yolngu and Balanda … This has made students more resilient to continue their education journey in our local school.’
