OUR PARTNER COMMUNITIES

Our community partnerships are core to our work. We are committed to understanding the needs of our partner communities and adapt our programming accordingly. More importantly, we work to a Community Development model, so that community members are supported and activated to respond to their own communities' needs.

We partner with four remote First Nations communities:

We acknowledge the strength and wisdom that exists within these communities and the privilege it is to serve them.

By partnering with school and community leaders, and other service providers, we leverage the strengths of all parties.

Integral to this approach is employing local Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff to run our programs in community.

Our presence in our four partner communities was determined by a number of factors, including:

  • Based in a remote discrete Indigenous community

  • Welcoming support from the community and school leaders

  • Population of 1,000 plus

  • Established primary and secondary schools

  • No duplication of services

  • Long term commitment to the delivery of programs.

We are committed to providing a holistic, enduring and valued service to the four communities in which we work.
